Equatorial Launch Australia (ELA) headquartered in Adelaide, own and operate the Arnhem Space Centre – a spaceport located in Australia’s Northern Territory. ELA is delivering a strategically significant space infrastructure project for Australia and the global space sector, with the mission to be the pre-eminent multi-user commercial Space Launch company in the world. With a focus on developing industry-leading launch technology coupled with a unique ‘Resident Launcher’ business model positions ELA to service the emerging New Space market now and into the future.
The Opportunity:
As the Logistics & Purchasing Manager for ELA you will coordinate logistics for rockets and space launch operations, overseeing the procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and propellants via road and sea freight. This role will also include managing customs, compliance, and supplier relations to ensure timely, safe, and efficient delivery of critical components to support successful launch schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport coordination, encompassing road and sea freight

Purchasing of materials, equipment, assets & consumables

Materials delivery coordination
-
Link between O/S shipping and onsite delivery

Site management: containers, transport, materials in / out and storage onsite.

Compliance with state, national and international standards, and relevant regulations

Understanding of import permits or ability to obtain relevant information

Liaise with Construction team regarding lead time vs works schedule to ensure delivery of goods to the right place, at the right time, for the right price, safeguarding continuity of adherence to the Construction schedule

Work with customers for all in-country logistics / accommodation and operational needs

Compliance with ELA safety health management system (SHMS)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Broad experience across all areas of transport and logistics, including offloading and storage

Experience in procurement including the development of cost comparisons with recommendation proposals

Experience managing customs and compliance for import, handling and transport of dangerous and restricted (ITAR) goods

Experience with fuels, cryogenic liquids, general freight, and rockets - Highly desirable

Preferably 10+ years in logistics for Heavy Engineering, Construction, Mining, Defence or similar

Remote area experience - Highly desirable
