Job Description

As the Senior Tax Accountant, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the tax strategy for an ASX Listed Company in the Energy sector. Partnering closely with the Tax Manager, you will ensure compliance with tax obligations and provide strategic tax advisory services to the wider business. In this role, you will closely collaborate and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external regulatory bodies, as the senior advisor on behalf of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review tax lodgements, including income tax, PRRT, GST, FBT, government royalties, R&D tax credits, and excise.

  • Perform monthly, half-yearly and annual tax effect accounting calculations.

  • Develop and manage income tax forecasts and budget calculations.

  • Drive efficiencies through continuous improvement and innovative practices.

  • Provide strategic and commercial tax advice, particularly for acquisitions and divestments.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies, including the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and New Zealand Inland Revenue.

Required Competencies:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Law or related field.

  • CA, CPA, TIA or equivalent.

  • Significant corporate tax experience either in a large accounting firm or a large corporate.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant Australian tax laws.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey information and engage various audiences.

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to evaluate information and guide actions.

  • Ability to facilitate change by encouraging innovation and implementing new practices.
