Job Description

Mount Barker District Council are currently interested in hearing from experienced and innovative wastewater and water treatment professionals to work collaboratively in their expanding Wastewater team. This role will be responsible for leading the team operating and maintaining the wastewater and recycled water treatment infrastructure and facilities across the district.

The Opportunity: 

The Team Leader, Treatment Operations will work closely with the Manager, Water Operations to ensure you are providing a reliable, safe, and sustainable service to wastewater, recycled water and bore water customers. You will also play a key role in ensuring you meet their level of service commitments and all regulatory and licence conditions.

You will be involved in the design, construction and commissioning stages of the new treatment plant in Mount Barker and will ultimately be responsible for leading operations at a treatment plant that contains the latest technology in a purpose built facility you will have had input into the design of, including the control room and laboratory facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the effective and timely planning and delivery of maintenance and operation services for Wastewater Service assets based on defined service levels, programs of work, specifications and budgets.

  • Provide effective leadership and supervision of day to day maintenance and operations at wastewater treatment.

  • Ensure daily system monitoring, attending to alarms and rectifying any faults to ensure the continuous operation of all wastewater network and treatment equipment is undertaken effectively.

  • Supervise and undertake day to day maintenance and operation of the recycled water treatment facility and bore water supply, and associated networks.

  • Monitor budget expenditure to deliver services.

  • Assure timely and responsive management and resolution of customer calls, network blockages and overflows as part of emergency repairs out of hours.

  • Actively monitor the use of plant and machinery to ensure it is maintained to required  standards.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering or demonstrated experience in a related field, including trade based applicants.

  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership position.

  • Experience in operation and maintenance of wastewater, recycled water and bore water infrastructure and assets.

  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes.

  • Certificate III in Water Operations - Highly desirable.

  • Maintenance of relevant high risk work licences. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem solving skills.

The remuneration will be $106,929 to $113,243 with a commuter vehicle. You will be required to participate in an on-call roster and attend call outs. On-call retainer and call outs will be paid in addition to your base salary.
