EGM are proud to be partnering with Equatorial Launch Australia, a leader in the space industry in Australia.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Engineering to lead their engineering team as they revolutionise spaceport operations.

About the Business:

ELA, headquartered in Adelaide, operates the Arnhem Space Centre in the Northern Territory. As a trailblazer in the commercial space sector, they aim to set the global standard for spaceport operations through innovation, collaboration, and a ‘Resident Launcher’ model. Having partnered with NASA, they are now preparing for weekly launches from Arnhem Space Centre.

The Role:

As the Head of Engineering, you will oversee the engineering framework for the group, and spearhead the delivery of high-impact space-related projects. This role involves managing the design and integration of launch systems, developing the Ground Segment-As-A-Service, and guiding space technology advancements. You will lead a small team of engineers, mentor young talent, and represent the business at key industry events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee design and integration of launch and space systems.
  • Drive innovation in launch technologies, including tracking and telemetry.
  • Manage client test and evaluation requirements.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team.
  • Support business development and stakeholder engagement.

About You:

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering systems and complex project delivery.
  • Strong leadership skills and a passion for mentoring.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Committed to safety, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Previous experience in Space, Aerospace, complex Manufacturing or Defence sectors would be preferred.
  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates will need to be Australian Citizens and eligible for a Defence clearance.
