The Opportunity: 

As a Business Data Analyst at Drakes Supermarkets, you will play a vital role in the business by communicating key data insights regarding shrinkage, consumer behaviours, capital expenditure, sales, and profit within the fresh food departments. Your analyses will empower the organization to make data-driven decisions that propel the business forward. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Reporting Development, Modelling, Maintenance, and Enhancement:
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive monthly reporting suite for the General Manager of Fresh Foods, Fresh Supervisors, and Store Managers.
  • Tailor reports to meet the specific information needs of the fresh food management team.
  • Actively participate in the month-end close process and review Fresh Food Departments' profitability.
  • Implement predictive modeling to optimize pricing and promotion strategies.
  • Create insightful dashboards to monitor the performance of key Fresh initiatives such as 'Bakery Model,' 'The Little Kitchen,' and 'Store Concepts.' 
• Commercial Analysis:
  • Collaborate with fresh food supervisors to conduct category reviews.
  • Provide analysis and support for new Fresh Food opportunities, contributing to robust business cases.
  • Coordinate and manage quarterly performance reviews with the Fresh Food Manager and Supervisors.
  • Analyze monthly performance data for Fresh departments and entities, identifying trends and improvement areas.
  • Work closely with Fresh Food Supervisors to identify budget shortfalls and develop action plans for improvement.
  • Devise strategies to enhance the profit performance of underperforming Fresh Food Departments.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels in Fresh Food Departments, aligning with maximum days sales cover. 
• Continuous Process Improvement:
  • Implement profit improvement initiatives in collaboration with Fresh Food Supervisors and track their effectiveness.
  • Proactively utilize data to highlight operational performance issues and drive improvements.
  • Identify opportunities for terms improvement with suppliers, contributing to cost efficiencies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Finance Team, evolving our financial reporting to support Drakes' profitability.
  • Promote a cohesive one-team culture within the commercial analytics team and the wider Fresh Finance team. 

Experience and Skills:

• • Ability to transform and visualize data (preferable PowerBI experience)
  • Being able to translate and articulate the data to decision makers is imperative.
  • Demonstrated expertise in modeling and complex data analysis.
  • Track record of identifying, planning, and successfully implementing business improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills and people skills
  • Background in the commercial retail or fast-moving consumer goods industry is desirable.
