The City of Onkaparinga is the largest Council in South Australia with a budget of over $200m. The council adopt a customer-first approach, and deliver more than 40 internal and external services, providing a broad range of interesting work to be engaged in.
An opportunity has arisen for a strong people manager, with your highly-developed technical and soft skills, to lead a team to deliver expert finance business partnering services, budgeting and reporting across a multi-discipline organisation.
Reporting to the Manager Financial Services, this role is responsible for providing guidance and direction to the Financial Planning & Analysis team, and to work with the business to provide timely and accurate financial information to support decision making across the organisation. This role will also work collaboratively with the other Team Leaders within the Financial Services team to ensure financial processes are seamless, efficient and customer-focused.
The City of Onkaparinga is undergoing a major ICT Reform project, which included the implementation of a new finance system in 2020. The successful candidate must be agile and responsive, and able to provide strong leadership in times of change. Critical to this role is the ability to motivate people, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively across all levels of the organisation to support the achievement of community outcomes.
The role responsibilities include:
Providing active and visible leadership to both the Financial Planning & Analysis team and the broader Financial Services team to ensure organisational requirements are met in a collaborative manner
Leading and coordinating the Financial Planning & Analysis team to provide core financial services to/on behalf of the organisation including provision of financial advice, analysis and reporting; development of annual budgets, forecasts and budget reviews; development and maintenance of financial systems; and contribution to the development of Council’s long term financial plan
Ensuring robust financial planning and budgetary processes are in place to achieve organisational financial sustainability objectives that are balanced with the need to enable the business to meet its targets and strategies
Provision of expert advice at all levels across the organisation on financial matters, particularly financial planning and budgetary related
