Seymour College is looking for a Director of Finance and Operations to provide overall management of the delivery of effective corporate services. You will be a suitably qualified, strategic, senior finance and operations executive, who will work in partnership with the Principal.

About the Position

Reporting directly to the Principal and working closely with the Executive team, this is a key leadership role that will share in and guide the achievement of Seymour's strategic and operational goals. It’s a broad role requiring someone with a sound understanding of finance, reporting requirements, risk and governance as well as the depth of experience across multiple business units including ICT, asset management, facilities, catering and uniforms.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the finance and accounting functions including risk and compliance of the overall operations of the College.

  • Providing timely and informative reports as required to the Principal, Board Executive and teaching staff.

  • Coordinating the development and monitoring of strategic and business plans, budgets and annual reports.

  • Managing and coaching the business unit leaders and providing guidance to College staff to ensure efficient outcomes. 

  • Leading and motivating staff toward teamwork, collaboration, and high performance.

  • Managing multiple stakeholders and negotiate efficient outcomes.

  • Adopting a continuous improvement mindset to undertake ongoing review of the provision of Corporate Services to the College.

Ideally you will have:

  • Proven experience in successfully leading, managing and mentoring a team.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business. 

  • CA or CPA qualification.

  • Australian Institute of Company Directors membership at minimum MAICD level (or equivalent governance credentials).

  • Proven financial management skills with minimum 5 years’ experience. 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement initiatives to maintain best practice financial policies and processes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively, cooperatively and effectively as part of a team.
